Answer: - (a) 5 : 6

                 (b) 4 : 5

                 (c) 3 : 2

                 (d) 2 : 5

Detailed solution: -

Given: -

Total number of members in the club = 100

Members play carom = 20

Members play table tennis = 24

Members play badminton = 16

Members do not play any game = 100 - (20+24+16)

= 100 - 60

= 40

We need to find the ratio of the following: -

(a) The ratio of the members who play carom to the numbers of those who play table tennis = 20/24

= 5/6 (divide both numerator and the denominator by 4)

= 5 : 6

(b) The ratio of the members who play badminton to the number of those who play carom = 16/20

=4/5 (divide both numerator and the denominator by 4)

= 4 : 5

(c) The ratio of the members who play table tennis to the number of those who play badminton = 24/16

=3/2 (divide both numerator and the denominator by 8)

= 3 : 2

(d) The ratio of the members who play badminton to the number of those who do not play any game = 16/40

=2/5 (divide both numerator and the denominator by 8)

= 2 : 5

Therefore,

The answers are 5 : 6, 4 : 5, 3 : 2 and 2 : 5.
