In a coconut grove, (x+2) trees yield 60 nuts per year, x trees yield 120 nuts per year and (X - 2) trees yield 180 nuts per year. If the average yield per year of all trees be 100, then find the value of x.

Answer:

x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

(x+2) trees yield 60 nuts per year

=> Nuts per year by x + 2 Trees =  60 * (x + 2)

x trees yield 120 nuts per year

=> Nuts per year by x  Trees = 120 * x

(x-2) trees yield 180 nuts per year

=> Nuts per year by x - 2 Trees =  180 * (x - 2)

Total Nuts = 60 * (x + 2) +  120 * x + 180 * (x - 2)

= 60x + 120  + 120x  + 180x - 360

= 360x - 240

Total trees = x+2 + x + x - 2 = 3x

Average nuts = 100

Total Nuts = 100 * 3x = 300x

360x - 240 = 300x

=> 60x = 240

=> x = 4

Answer:

Value of X is 4

Step-by-step explanation:

(X + 2) trees yield 60 nuts per year

Nuts per year by X + 2 Trees =  60\times (X + 2)

X trees yield 120 nuts per year

Nuts per year by x  Trees = 120\times  X

(X - 2) trees yield 180 nuts per year

Nuts per year by x - 2 Trees = 180\times (X - 2)

Total Nuts = 60\times  (X + 2)\ +\  120\times  (X)\ +\ 180\times (X - 2)

= 60X + 120  + 120X  + 180X - 360

= 360X - 240

Total trees = X + 2 + X + X - 2 = 3X

Average nuts = 100

Total Nuts = 100\times 3X = 300X

360X - 240 = 300X

60X = 240

X = 4

Hence, Value of X will be 4
