In a college , the ratio of the number of boys to the girls is 8:5 . If the number of girls is 260 ,then find the
a) Number of boys in the college
b) Total number of students in the college

and the total no.of students would be 676..
as if let the no.of boys as 8x and take the value of x by using the no. of grls.ie.5x=260
hence the value of x would be 52
multiply 8×52
=416 boys in school
total no.of students would be 260+416

☞ Let Number of Boys be 'x'

☆ According to the Question :-

$\tt {\implies}\dfrac {8}{5} = \dfrac {x}{260} \\ \\ \tt {\implies}\: 5x = 260 × 8 \\ \\ \tt {\implies}\: x = \dfrac {260 × 8}{5} \\ \\ \tt {\implies}\red {x = 416}$

Total no of students = Number of boys + Number of girls

= 416 + 260 = 676

Hence, No.of Students in School = 676
