Given:

The seats of arts, commerce, and science are in the ratio of 5:&:8

To Find:

The ratio after increased seats.

Solution:

Let the number of seats in arts, commerce, and science be 5x,7x, and 8x.

Arts seats are increased by 40%

= 5x+2x

=7x

Commerce seats are increased by 50%

= 7x+ \frac{50}{100}× 7x

= 7x+3.5x
