In a combined test of mathematics and english, 24% candidate failed in english subject, 27% failed in mathematics and 20% failed in both the subjects. (i) find the percentage of the students who failed in any of the subject. (ii) find the percentage of students who passed in both the subjects. (iii) if 414 students passed in both the subjects, find the total number of students.

Answer:

i) It is given that 24 % failed in english, 27% failed in maths . Hence percentage of students that failed in either one subject=(24+27-20)- since 20 percent failed in both subjects.

Answer: 31 percent

ii) Students who passed in both subjects=(100-31)%

                                                                    =69%

iii) Let number of students= x

    69x/100=414

=600
