In a community, two neighbours have rectangular backyard having the same area of 1530sq. meter. If the breadth of first backyard is 9 meter and breadth of second backyard is 90 meter, find which backyard will require more fencing and by how much?

We have,
Breadth of 1st rectangle = 9 m
Area of rectangle = l ×b
1530 = l ×9
1530/9 = l
170 = l
So the length of 1st rectangle = 170 m
Perimeter of the first rectangle = 2(l +b)
= 2( 170 + 9)
= 2× 179
= 358 m
Now the breadth of second rectangle = 90 m
Area = l × b
1530 = l × 90
1530/90 = l
17 = l
length of 2nd rectangle = 17 m
Perimeter of second rectangle = 2(l +b)
= 2( 17 + 90)
= 2 × 107
= 214 m
Clearly the first backyard will need more fencing by 358 - 214 = 144m
Breadth of 1st rectangle = 9 m
Area of rectangle = l ×b
1530 = l ×9
1530/9 = l
170 = l
So the length of 1st rectangle = 170 m
Perimeter of the first rectangle = 2(l +b)
= 2( 170 + 9)
= 2× 179
= 358 m
Now the breadth of second rectangle = 90 m
Area = l × b
1530 = l × 90
1530/90 = l
17 = l
length of 2nd rectangle = 17 m
Perimeter of second rectangle = 2(l +b)
= 2( 17 + 90)
= 2 × 107
= 214 m
Clearly the first backyard will need more fencing by 358 - 214 = 144m
