QUESTION :-

In a competitive exam of 40 question, +3 is awarded

for a correct and -1 for every woung answers

Find the total score if a student had 11 wrong answers in his attempts of all questions.

Give explaination!

SOLUTION:-

Total number of marks in exam :- 40x3

=> 120 marks.

Total negatives He attempted = -11

and total correct questions = 40-11

questions

So, correct marks he got = 29x3

=> 87 marks

So, his total score after attending all question is =87

But,

due to negative of 11 it becomes,

=> 87-11= 76

Total marks =76 and out of 120

His score is = 76/120

he attempts 40 questions

and he gave 11 wrong answers

so

40 - 11 = 29

therefore 29 correct answers

marks he got for correct answers=

29 \times 3 = 87

marks for 11 wrong answers =

11 \times  - 1 =  - 11

threrefore let us add these marks to obtain his total marks=

87 + ( - 11) \\  = 87 - 11 \\  = 76

therefore he scored 76 marks out of 120 marks
