Let x be the number of correct answers.(which is given = 12)

y be the number of wrong answers.

marks scored = 20

--> 4x - 2y = 20

--> 4×12 -2y = 20

--> -2y = 20 - 48

--> 2y = 28

--> y = 14

Therefore no. of questions attempted = x + y

= 14 + 12 = 26
