When conc. HCl is added to flask containing Zn granules, zinc chloride is formed. Effervescence of H2 gas will be observed in this reaction. As the reaction is exothermic reaction, temperature of the flask will increase which can be felt by touching.

The temperature of the flask increases.
EXPLANATION
- The reaction between dilute sulphuric acid and zinc granules is depicted below-
- Zn(s) + Dil.H₂SO₄ --------> ZnSO₄(s) + H₂(g)
- On adding dilute sulphuric acid and zinc granules, single displacement reaction occurs in which H₂ molecules are displaced by more reactive atom Zinc to form Zinc Sulphate.
- During this reaction heat is liberated which increases the temperature of the conical flask.
- Such reactions in which energy is released in the form of heat or light is known as exothermic reaction.
- In exothermic reaction energy is transferred into the surrounding.
- In an exothermic reaction the bonds between the reactant is stronger than that of the bonds of products.
