Let the no. of men be x & women be y.
As per first given condition,
x = 3y
As per second given condition,
(x+16) = 2(y+29)
x+16 = 2y+58
x-2y = 58-16
3y-2y = 58-16
y = 42
x = 3y
x = 3(42)
x = 126
At first, there were 126 men and 42 women.
