Question :

1. Hit a boundary in the next ball ?

2. Not hit boundary in the next ball ?

Given :

  • In a cricket match a batsman his a boundary 6 times out of 30 balls he plays.

To find :

  • Find the probability that he will.

Formula used :

 \pink{ \sf \: Probability =  \frac{Favourlable   \: \: outcomes}{Total   \: \: outcomes} }

Solution :

 \sf(i) \:  Number \:  of \:  times \:  on  \: boundary  \: is  \: hit = 6

 \sf ∴P  \: (hit  \: a  \: boundary) =  \frac{6}{30} = \frac{1}{5}

 \sf(ii) \: Number  \: of \:  times \:  on  \: boundary  \: is \:  not  \: hit = 30 - 6 = 24

 \sf∴P  \: (did  \: not  \: hit \:  a\: boundary) =  \frac{24}{30}  =  \frac{4}{5}

Solution :

(i) Number of times on boundary is hit = 6

★ P ( Hit a boundary ) = 6/30 = 1/5

(ii) Number of times on boundary is not hit = 30 - 6 = 24

★ P ( Did not hit boundary ) = 24/30 = 4/5

I hope its helpful
