Given:

In a cricket match, a batsman hits a boundary 7 times out of 42 balls he plays.

To Find:

Find the probability that on a ball he played. (i) he hits the boundary.

Solution:

Probability is known as how likely an event will happen out of all the possible outcomes of that event. It lies from 0 to 1. It is represented by 'P'. The formula for probability is,

P=\frac{possible outcomes}{total outcomes}

The possible outcome in this situation is 7 and the total outcome is 42,

so the probability will be, putting the values in the formula for probability, we have

P=\frac{7}{42} \\=0.167

Hence, the probability is 0.167.
