answer should be 1/5 as

8×4/40 ( since when we hit a boundry we get 4 runs )

therefore ,
32/40
=4/5
therefore 1-4/5=1/5

Answer:

 Probability \: not \: hitting \: the\\boundary =\frac{4}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

 Total \: possible \: outcomes(S)\\ = Number \: of \: balls \: a \\ batsman \: played \\= 40

Number \: of \: favourable\: outcomes(F)\\ = Number \: of \: times \\ he\: hits \: the \\boundary=8

 Probability\: of \: hitting \\ boundary P(E) \\= \frac{F}{S}\\=\frac{8}{40}\\=\frac{1}{5}

 Now,\\Probability \: not \: hitting \: the\\boundary =1- P(E)\\=1-\frac{1}{5}\\=\frac{5-1}{5}\\=\frac{4}{5}

Therefore,

 Probability \: not \: hitting \: the\\boundary =\frac{4}{5}
