wild type (+, +). In this cross 700 out of 1000 individuals
were of parental type. Then the distance between 'a' and
'b' is

Answer:

GIVEN:-

Cross between homozygous=(a,b)

and, wild type(A,B) or (+,+).

TOtal number of individuals= 1000.

Total parental type:- 700

so, Total recombinant type:- 300.

SO,

________________________________

R.F = total recombinant type÷ total individuals.

= 300÷1000

so,

%RF = RF×100

Hence, the distance between 'a' and 'b' is 30CM ( centi morgen) or map unit.

Explanation:

The distance between a and b =

The distance between a and b = total number of offsprings/

no. of recombinants×100

no. of recombinants×100=

no. of recombinants×100= 1000/

300×100

300×100= 30 map units.
