Let the total number of citizens be : 100

10% of the the citizens are convicted of crime :-

= 10% of 100 = 10

No. of criminals survive after the crime is 20% of the criminals

Let the total criminals be x

No. of criminals who do not survive after committing the crime = (100-20) = 80% of x

= 80% of x = 10

= x = 10x (100/80) = 12.5

= Required percentage = (12.5/100)× 100

= 12.5%
