Answer:

The correct answer is 40.

Explanation:

            :DATA:-

Length of DNA = 68nm.

Length of one turn in DNA = 34nm.

Number of Nucleotides in one turn of DNA = 20

  1. Number of turns in given DNA = ?
  2. Nucleotides in given DNA = ?

             :SOLUTION:-

          Length of DNA                        Number of Turns

               34nm                                                1

                                            X

              68nm                                               x ( unknown value)

                    (1)(68nm) = (34nm)(x)

                      68nm = (34nm)(x)

                      68nm / 34nm = x

                       2  =  x

Therefore,

     Number of turns in given DNA = x = 2.

As,

 Number of nucleotides in one turn = 20.

So,

  Number of nucleotides in 2 turns = 2 x 20

  Number of Nucleotides in 2 turns = 40.

NOTE:-

       There is a mistake in your question, If the length of DNA is 68nm, then the number of nucleotides will be 40. The number of nucleotides will be 400 if the length of DNA is 680nm.
