let the percent secured by candidate B is =×%
so the% secured bu candidate A = 12+×%

total votes =12+x+x=100%

=2x=100-12

=x=88/2

x=44% (candidate B)

x+12=44+12 =56% (candidate A)

Candidate B has secured 7.69% less than candidate A

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the no. of votes secured by candidate B be x

We are given that candidate A has secured 12% votes more than candidate B

Candidate A secured votes= x+\frac{x}{12}=\frac{13}{12}x

Difference in votes =\frac{13}{12}x-x=\frac{1}{12}x

% has candidate B secured less than candidate A = \frac{\frac{1}{12}x}{\frac{13}{12}x} \times 100=7.69\%

Hence Candidate B has secured 7.69% less than candidate A
