In a factory the ratio of salary of skilled and unskilled workers is 5:3. Total salary of one day of both of them is 720rs. Find daily wages of skilled and unskilled workers

1st find sum of the ratio= 5+3=8
now skilled daily wages=5÷8×720=450
unskilled daily wages =3÷8×720=180

according to 1st condition
x/y=5/3
3x=5y...1
according to 2nd condition
x+ y = 720...2 
multiply eqn 2 by 3
3x+3y=2160...3
substitute eqn 1 in eqn 3
5y+3y=2160
8y=2160
y=2160/8
y=270
substitute y= 270 in eqn 1
3x=5y
3x=5*270
x=5*270/3
x=450

the salary of skilled workers is rs 450 and that of unskilled workers is rs 270
