Answer:

Each cow has 1 head and 4 legs. Each bird has 1 head and 2 legs.

Let x = number of cows and y = number of birds

Then x + y = 35

4x + 2y = 110

Multiply the first equation by -2: -2x - 2y = -70

4x+ 2y = 110

Add the equations: 2x = 40

x = 20 and y = 15

Answer:

number of cows is 20 and birds is 15

Step-by-step explanation:

let the number of cows be x

and the number of birds be y

given:

heads,

x+y = 35 --------->(1)

legs,

4x+2y = 110 --------->(2)

equating (1) and (2)

(2)×1 ==> 4x+2y = 110

(1)×2 ==> 2x+2y = 70

(-) (-) (-)

2x = 40

2x=40

x=40/2

x = 20

sub x in (1)

20+y = 35

y = 35-20

y= 15

x = cows = 20
