There are 100 heads of animals in the farm .

It means there are total 100 animals.

Let us suppose that total no. of hens = x

So, no. of cows = 100 - x

No. of feets of hens = 2 × x

=> 2x

No. of feets of cows = 4( 100- x)

=> 400 - 4x

Now,

2x + (400 - 4x ) = 280

- 2x = 280 - 400

- 2x = - 120

x = 60

There are 60 hens and 40 cows.
