In a festive season, a retailer sells readymade cloths at a discount of 20% and still gains 20 of C.P.If the Marked price for a pair of jeans is Rs.4200 , find the C.P

The marked price is Rs. 4200.
Retailer gives 20% discount.
∴, 4200×20/100=840
∴, Selling price is (4200-840)=3360
The retailer gains 20% of cost price.
If x is the cost price then,
x×20/100=3600-x
or, x/5=3600-x
or, x/5+x=3600
or, (x+5x)/5=3600
or, 6x=3600×5
or, x=(3600×5)/6
or, x=3000
∴, the cost price is Rs. 3000
