According to the question.

↠ x : 1 = 987 : 7

↠ x/1 = 987/7

↠ x = 141

Hence,

Solution :-

This question can be solved by both unitary and proportional method

Unitary method

Saplings in 7 rows = 987

Saplings in 1 row = 987/7

Saplings in 1 row = 141

Proportional method

Let the saplings in 1 row be S

Saplings : Row :: Sapling : Row

987 : 7 :: S : 1

987 × 1 = 7 × S

987 = 7S

987/7 = S

141 = S

∴ There are 141 saplings in 1 row
