In a field,there are peacocks and rabbits,the total number of peacocks and rabbits is present in the field is 48,when you count the number of legs it happen to be 100.How many peacocks and rabbits each is there in the field.​

By first condition

x+y=48 -(1)

Peacock has 2 legs and rabbit has 4 legs

Therefore, there are 2x peacocks and 4y rabbits

From second condition

2x+4y=100 -(2)

Multiply eqn 1 by 2

2x+2y=96 -(3)

Subtract eqn 3 from eqn 2

2x+4y=100

-2x+2y=-96

2y=4

y=4/2

y=2

Put in eqn 1

x+y=48

x+2=48

x=48-2

x=46

There are 46 peacocks and 2 rabbits
