So Megaspore Mother Cell (MMC) not actually produces 1 Megaspore but form 4 haploid Megaspores as MMC undergoes meiosis.
Of these, 3 Megaspores are non functional and get degnerated and only 1 Megaspore is functional which further undergoes Mitosis....
