In a four stroke, five-cylinder, inline reciprocating engine, the mass of reciprocating parts per cylinder is 15 Kg. The

stroke is 200 mm, the length of connecting rod is 450 mm and the cylinder are spaced 375 mm pitch. The firing order

of the engine is 1-2-3-4-5 and the engine runs at 600 r. p. m.

Examine the engine for the balance of primary and secondary forces and couples. Determine the maximum value of

these with reference to central plane of the engine and the position of central crank at which these maximum values

occur.​
