Since the oranges and bananas are in the ratio 2:3
the probability of picking and orange = 2/5
the probability of picking a banana = 3/5
the probability that the orange is rotten = 2/5 x 15/100 = 3/50
the probability that the banana is rotten = 3/5 x 10/100 = 3/50
the probability that the fruit chosen is rotten = 3/50 + 3/50
= 6/50
= 3/25 or 0.12
the probability of picking and orange = 2/5
the probability of picking a banana = 3/5
the probability that the orange is rotten = 2/5 x 15/100 = 3/50
the probability that the banana is rotten = 3/5 x 10/100 = 3/50
the probability that the fruit chosen is rotten = 3/50 + 3/50
= 6/50
= 3/25 or 0.12
