Let the oranges and apples be 2x and 5x

ATQ

the no. of apples is 60

So, 5x = 60

x = 60/5

Given:

In a fruit shop, the ratio of oranges to apples is 2:5 and there are 60 apples.

To find:

The number of oranges.

Solution:

The number of oranges is 24.

To answer this question, we will follow the following steps:

As given in the question, we have,

The ratio of oranges to apples = 2:5

Now,

Let the common ratio be x.

so,

The number of oranges = 2x

The number of apples = 5x

Also given,

The number of apples = 60

So,

5x = 60

x = 12

On putting the value of x in 2x, we get

The number of oranges = 2x = 2(12) = 24

Hence, the number of oranges is 24.
