In a game a mass of a ball is 100gm hits another ball of the same mass at rest with velocity 10m/s and then comes to rest . the second ball starts moving then what is the velocity of second ball?​

In case of perfectly elastic collision if two bodies having same mass and one moving with velocity V hits another mass(which is at rest) then the second mass will acquire velocity V and 1st mass will come to rest. in other words speed/velocity is exchanged even though they are moving with different velocities.

In this question we can either conserve linear momentum or We can conserve mechanical energies.

Conserve linear momentum

m1v1=m2v2

0.1×10=0.1×v2

v2=10m/s

or conserve mechanical energies

1/2×0.1×(10)²=1/2×0.1×v²

v²=100

v=10m/s
