In a game of tug-of-war, three girls of team A pull the rope with the forces of 80N, 100N and 120N. In team B, three girls pull the rope with the forces of 85N, 105N and 125N. What is the resultant force? Which team is winner?

Generally in tug of war game two team pull the rope opposite to another.

so, if team A and team B are pulling the rope opposite to each other their force must be opposite.

Let us consider the force made by team A is A,

and the force made by team B is B.

total force made by team A = 80N + 100N + 120N = 300N

total force made by team B = 85N + 105N + 125N = 315N

so, the magnitudd resultant force= |A-B| =

|(300-315)| = 15N

and the direction of the rope must be in the direction of greater force.

so thr rope must go towards the team B.

so the winner is team B.
