In a garden \frac{1}{5} are mango trees \frac{1}{8} are litchi trees \frac{1}{12} are banana trees and rest are guava trees

The number of guava trees are 142.

We have to find total number of trees

Let total number of trees be x

According to the question,

\frac{x}{5}+\frac{x}{8}+\frac{x}{12}+142=x

Now, taking LCM of 5,8,12

LCM of  5,8,12 = 120

Now,

\frac{24x+15x+10x}{120}= x-142

\frac{49x}{120}= x-142

49x=120x-17040

120x-49x= 17040

71x=17040

x= \frac{17040}{71}

x=240

Therefore, the total number of trees in garden is 240.
