Let the length of plot with marigold be = x metre

So length of plot with rose = x+2 metres

We know that area of square = side^2

Area of marigold plot= x^2

Area of rose plot = (x+2)^2

= x^2 + 2(x)(2) + 2^2

= x^2 + 4x +4

Difference = x^2 +4x+4 -(x^2)

= 4x+4 m^2
