Area of Lawn and Flower Bed

Answer: a) area of lawn = 252 m² and b) area of flower bed = 105 m².

Explanation:

Given that total area = 357 m²

And ratio of the area of lawn to the area of flower bed is 12:5

As given ratio is 12:5 ,  lets assume area of lawn = 12x and area of flower bed = 5x

Total area of garden = Area of lawn + Area of flower bed

On Substituting given value of total area and assumed value of Area of lawn and Area of flower bed we get

357 = 12x + 5x

=> 357 = 17x

=> 357/17 = x

=> x = 21

Area of lawn = 12x = 12 × 21 = 252 m²

Area of flower bed = 5x = 5 × 21 = 105 m²

hence a) area of lawn = 252 m² and b) area of flower bed = 105 m².
