In a garrison there were provisions for 150soldiers for 60 days how long will the provision last if 30 more soldiers joined them.

Formula :

M1 × T1       =       M2 × T2

 W1                          W2  in this case there is no value for W so we write 1

M2 = 150 + 30= 180

we are looking for T2 so we can write it as x

150 × 60     =      180 × x

9000 = 180x

divide both sides by 180

9000/180 = 180x/180

x = 50

so, number of days it will last = 50

if this method is too long you can still use inverse proportion
