AB=AC=5 ( tangent from the same external points )

AC=AD=5 ( same reason)

Therefore,AD=5cm

Given:

AB=5cm

To find:

The length of AD

Solution:

The length of AD is 5 cm.

We can find the length by following the given steps-

We know that AB is a tangent to the circle with the centre O, AD is the tangent to the circle with centre O', and AC is tangent to both the circles.

We are given that the length of AB is 5 cm.

The tangents AB and AC both originate from the same point A and so the length of AB and AC will be equal.

AB=AC=5cm (Tangents from the same point to the circle are equal in length)

Similarly, the tangents AC and AD are tangents from the same point A.

The length of AC will be equal to AD.

So, AC=AD=5cm

All the three tangents, AB, AC, and AD are equal in length.

AB=AC=AD=5 cm.

Therefore, the length of AD is 5 cm.
