Given : In a given time interval, a charge of 4C passes over an Emf device while the energy spent by the device during the same time interval is 30 J.

To find : The EMF of the emf device in volts.

Solution : Energy spent by device = charge × emf

⇒30 J = 4C × emf

⇒emf = 30/4 = 7.5 volts.

Therefore emf of the device is 7.5 volts.
