In a gram panchayat elections the winning candidate secured 560 votes majority over the
opponent losing candidate. If there are 7680 people in the village of which 120 members did
not vote, find the ratio of the votes secured by winning candidate to those secured by the lost
candidate.​

the no. of people in village=7680

no. of people did not vote=120

no. of voted people=7680-120=7560

the winning candidate votes=560+opponent votes

let us consider opponent's votes as x

the votes of winning candidate=560+x

so,

votes of winning candidate+votes of opponent=7560

560+x+x=7560

560+2x=7560

2x=7560-560

2x=7000

x=7000/2

x=3500

opponent votes=3500

winning candidate votes=3500+560=4060

ratio of winning candidate votes and opponent candidate votes=4060:3500

=29:25
