In a grassland ecosystem, some students are trying to kill the grasshoppers for fun. You didn’t like this. How do you convince your friends not to do so?

In such circumstances, I would explain it scientifically to my friends and convince them.

1. If the grasshoppers( primary consumers)  are killed, it will lead to the slow extinction of the animals in the next trophic level( secondary consumers) and thereby affect all the subsequent trophic levels.

2. It will also lead to an accumulation of the previous trophic level, i.e. producers. So, this will lead to an imbalance in nature as the number of producers will be increasing but consumers reduce. This leads to an ecological imbalance.

Humans are also going to be affected(and might go extinct in years to come) and so this should be avoided.
