Given,

Total children = 24

Total children, that play cricket = 16

Total children, that only play cricket = 12

To Find,

Total children, that only play hockey =?

Solution,

Total children= 24

Children that play both hockey and cricket = 16 - 12

Children that play both hockey and cricket = 4

Children that play hockey  = Total  -  Total children, that only play cricket

Children that play hockey  = 24 - 12

Children that play hockey  = 12

Children that play only hockey  = 12 - 4

Children that play only hockey  = 8

Hence, 8 children play hockey only.
