Firstly we have total possible ways of selecting a captain = 11C1 = 11

Probability = Favorable outcome/ Total Outcomes

a) we want to select the goalee as captain

Probability = 1C1 / 11 = 1/11

b) A defender is selected

No. of ways for selecting a defender as captain = 6C1 = 6

Probability = 6/11
