In a horse-cart, each of the two horses pull the cart with the force of 550N each. Calculate the net resultant force and give reason for your answer.

= Net force is sum of the two forces so we add if them ...If A is pushing a block in east with 20N and B is pushing in West with 10N then we can say that in west direction ...it is - ve..so when we add up : 20+(-10)so the answer is 20 -10 = 10N ...So, you just have to see the direction and then add up them.

Solution:

Since, there are two horses and both pull with the same force, thus the resultant force will be -

= 550 + 550

= 1100      

The applied force is in the same direction. As a consequence, forces in the same direction are often added together to produce the resultant force.
