milk for 60 patients = 1350 litres

milk for x patients = 1710 litres

direct variation

60 : x : : 1350 : 1710

product of means = product of extremes

1350x = 1710 × 60

x = 1710×60/1350

x = 76

therefore, if the consumption per patient is same, the patients are 76.
