Given :-

• 100 students had provision for 130 days .
• After 10 days 20 students left the hostel .

Find :-

• How long would the remaining food last?
• find whether given case is direct or inverse variation

Solution :-

• Initial number of students= 100
• Initial provision for 130 days
• After 10 days remaining provision would last for 130-10= 120 days for 100 students
• But number of remaining students is= 100-20= 80

Let remaining provision will last for X days for the remaining students

Represented as:-

• Number of students= 100 80
• Number of days = 120 X

As the number of days will decrease if number of students increase (inverse variation)

• Therefore, 100×120= 8×X
• Or X= 12000/80= 150 days

✭ Therefore the remaining provision will last for 150 days.
