Question:

In a hostel 120 students had provision for 60 days after 20 days some students were added to the hostel the provision had finished 10 days ahead how many students were added ?

Answer:

360 students were added.

Given:

120 students had the provision of 60 days.

After 20 days some new students were added.

After the joining of the students, 10 days ahead the provision had been ended.

To find:

The number of students were added.

Explanation:

120 students had the provision of 60 days.

After 20 days the new students were added.

∴ The number of days left=(60-20) days

                                          = 40 days.

After the addition of the students the provision had ended for 10 days.

Hence,

For 40 days the provision continues for 120 students.

∴ For 1 day the provision continues for_

(120×40) students

= 4800 students.

∴ For 10 days the provision continues for_

(4800÷10) students

= 480 students.

∴ The number of new students were added_

(480-120)

= 360 students.

∴ 360 students were added.
