It is because in a parallel connection each electrical appliances are independent of each other means they don't depend on other appliances so if somehow 1 device stops working then rest of the appliances will be not having any affect of that. But in case of series, if 1 divice stops working all other devices which are connected with that device also stops working. Therefore parallel connection is most suitable and convenient for house lamps.
