Given,

There is sufficient food for 15 persons for 5 days.

To find,

The number of days for that the food would be sufficient if 5 persons left the house.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Now, here we have to apply normal arithmetic method.

New person number = 15-5 = 10

For 15 persons = 30 days

For 1 person = 15×30= 450 days

For 10 persons = 450/10 = 45 days

Hence, the food will be sufficient for 45 days.

SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • In a house of 15 persons food was sufficient for 30 days.

  • 5 persons left the house.

TO DETERMINE

The number of days the food would be sufficient

EVALUATION

Here it is given that In a house of 15 persons food was sufficient for 30 days.

5 persons left the house

So the number of persons now = ( 15 - 5 ) = 10

SOLVE USING RULES OF THREE

 \sf{ :  \:  \:  \: \:  Number \:  of \:  persons \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  Number  \: of  \: days }

 \sf{ :  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \: 15 \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \: 30}

 \sf{ :  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \: 10 \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:? }

Here the number of persons and number of days are in inverse proportion

Since the number of persons decreases, so the number of days will increases

So the required number of days

 \displaystyle \sf{ = 30 \times  \frac{15}{10} }

 \displaystyle \sf{ = 45 }
