In a hydrolysis reaction, 5 gram ethyl acetate is hydrolysed in the presence of dilute hcl in 300 minutes. If the reaction is of first order and initial concentration of ethyl acetate is 22g/litre. Calculate the rate constant of the reaction

Solution:-----

K=2.303/t log {R}0/{R}

We know that here t = 300 minutes

{R}0 =22 grams  L^-1
{R}={22-5}gL^-1 =17 L^-1

By substituting these values in the Equation,We get:--

K=2.303/300 minutes x0.112 minute^-1

⇒8.597x10^-4 minute^-1.
