In a hypothetical atom, if there are 5 spin values possible and no change in any other quantum
number, then what will be the total number of orbitals present in III shell of an atom?​

1 subshell has (2l+1) orbitals .  

Each orbital has 3 electrons.  

∴y=(2l+1)×3=6l+3  

Each shell has n  2

 orbitals.  

∴x=3n  2

 

∴x+y=3n  2  +6l+3
