let us take a triangle ABC and draw an altitude AD

being an isosceles triangle

in tri ACD and tri CDB

CD =CD (common )

CA = CB ( equal opposite sides)

angle A = angle B ( angle opposite to opposite sides are also equal )

therefore : tri ACD and CDB are congruent by ASA rule

so , AD = DB by CPCT
