Given:

  • 700 students went for an excursion in 2010
  • 840 students went for an excursion in 2011

To find: what is the percentage of increase in people going to excursion?

Solution:

  • Students went in 2010 is 700
  • Students went in 2011 is 840
  • Increase = 840 - 700 = 140

  • So required percentage is
  • = increase / students went in 2010 × 100%
  • = 140 / 700 × 100%
  • = 20%

Answer: The percentage of increase in people going to excursion is 20%.

Given,

700 students went for excursion in 2010.

840 students went for excursion in 2011.

To find,

The percentage increase in people going into excursion.

Solution,

First of all, we need to calculate the numerical value of the increase in the number of people going into excursion.

Increase amount = Number of students of 2011 - Number of students of 2010 = 840 -700 = 140

Percentage increase = 100 × Increase amount/ Initial number of students = 100 × 140/700 = 20%

Hence,20% increased in the number of people going into the excursion.
