In lemon juice when we add a piece of zinc and introduce a burning match stick the fire is heard to burn with pop sounds.

The reason is, the citric acid of lemon reacts with zinc to form zinc citrate and it gives off hydrogen gas. When this hydrogen gas comes in contact with the burning match stick, hydrogen gas burns with a characteristic pop sound.

This simple experiment can be treated as a test for hydrogen gas.
